SPECIAL
JUNE PACT MEETING - June 10, 2008
Speaker: Herb Hinkle
On Tuesday, June 10th, from 7 – 9 PM
at the administrative offices of Durand Academy & Community Services,
PACT will hold a special meeting with guest speaker, Herb Hinkle who will
address issues pertaining to transitioning from school to adulthood. Herb
will also talk about newly proposed legislation regarding Real Life
Choices money and address how parents can utilize different and creative
ways to provide opportunities for their young adult children on the
spectrum.
Also attending that night will be
Eileen and Gary Adams, parents of a child on the spectrum, who are in the
process of forming the Center for Matt (Meeting Autism Today &
Tomorrow) for the growing segment of individuals aging out of school
programs. Out of the estimated 1.5 million Americans that have autism,
approximately 85% are children.
This is a critical subject for all
parents who have children on the spectrum, who are close to aging out of
the education entitlement at age 21. PACT urges parents of children in
their teens, (parents of younger children as always, are welcome) to
attend this meeting.
